Or the impact of access technology on internet performance

Trawling through the OECD reports for 2009 gave up this little piece of interesting research.

Between November 2008 and February 2009 Epitiro installed dedicated test equipment on dedicated subscriptions from the top 5 ISP’s in each OECD country in order to benchmark Internet performance as perceived by a customer from differing access type.

See the graphs below. These indicate to some extent the impact of access technology on end-to-end received performance and on the difference between advertised access speed and actual performance.
