Maths Challenge

Are you competing in Mathletics World Maths Day? If you are one of the best in NZ on World Maths Day, you will be invited to compete live in more maths games on 13th March at SkyCity Convention Centre. There are some great prizes to be won!!

The Challenge:

To qualify for this challenge you will need to compete in, and be one of the top 4 in New Zealand on World Maths Day on 3rd and 4th March 2010.  (register free at www.worldmathsday.com)

The top 4 in NZ in each age group in the World Maths Day Challenge on 3rd and 4th March will be able to compete live in more maths games at the Planet 2010 Conference, SkyCity Convention Centre on 13th March 2010 to become New Zealand's Maths Champion 2010. 

On the day, competitors will compete against each other for a period of 10 minutes, with their progress being shown to the crowd via overhead screen.

Supporters will be welcome to come along and cheer you on!

Prizes will be awarded to:

Junior - Age 5-8               1st, 2nd, 3rd Place

Intermediate - Age 9-13    1st, 2nd, 3rd Place

Senior - Age 14-18           1st, 2nd, 3rd Place

Adult                               1st, 2nd, 3rd Place

The judges will be looking for: Top scores in the Mathletics maths games on the 13th March.

Maths Challenge Terms & Conditions

  1. To qualify you must be one of the New Zealand top 4 place getters on World Maths Day on 3rd and 4th March 2010.
  2. You must be able to attend the event at the SkyCity Convention Centre on 13th March 2010, or have access to a computer and webcam (some assistance to access a webcam may be provided depending on resources and location).
  3. The TIG reserves the right to invite other place getters, should the top 4 not be able to attend.
  4. The entrants must be:
    1. Resident in New Zealand or New Zealand citizens
    2. New Zealand School students and under 20 years of age.
  5. Any student found to be participating in an incorrect age category will be disqualified.
  6. The completed registration form confirms the entrant’s consent to these Conditions.
  7. Entries submitted without a signed Parental or Guardian consent form will not be accepted.
  8. The TIG will have the right to print the name and result of any entrant in publicity in respect of the competition and all matter incidental thereto.
  9. The TIG will have the right to interpret these conditions and to determine all issues arising out of this contest.  Any such interpretations and determinations shall be final.
  10. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
